Dear black people

I rarely use TikTok.  In actual fact, I rarely use any social media platform. But TikTok is the one I rarely use the most. It's one of the platforms I may fire up when I'm sat on the bog. Why? I don't know, even casually scrolling it's either full of young women showing off their pneumatically enhanced assets or people talking about racism (maybe It suggests more about me than I dare admit). Talking about racism is definitely a hot topic on whatever platform you browse, but it rears it's head mostly there. So anyway... I did discover one young black lady (who I sadly scrolled past and instantly forgot her name as I was hit with yet another woman flashing her devastatingly deep cleavage at me. But she did leave a mark on the 2 video's  I did look at.  The first video was an interesting look at why black people should care about the war between Russia & Ukraine and that was a topic rarely mentioned (probably because it isn't sexy enough) and that was about...

Save Women's Sport

Image
I was going to steer clear of the subject of trans women competing in women's sport, but I have just read the most ridiculous tweet of all time so I feel compelled to react (this will be long) So I'll start of by breaking down the tweet, then I'll just highlight some truths and you can make up your own minds. Tweet Begins: I have been hearing more frequently the narrative that women's sport apparently exists as a 'protected category' so that women can win (because on this account without it no woman will ever win again) This is: a) *not* the reason why women's sport exists as a category, and b) it is *not* true that women will never win again. Now this is predicated by "which sport you choose to select." However, category for women's sport is very much a "thing" and while a reasonable argument can be made for some mixed sport, It is shameful to suggest that there aren't sports where mixing the sexes will never offer up a female ...

Rittenhouse

Image
Now that the Rittenhouse case has begun it's slow drift into the obscurity of history I thought I might note my thoughts on the case itself and the ever creeping depression of living in a world that panders to race baiters in every corner of our media. I was in the unique position of being able to watch every single minute of the case, I was also able to watch it all unfold via a livestream that featured (at times) up to 9 lawyers, which was great for me because A) I'm not American and B) I'm not a lawyer. So the facts. 1. He did turn up armed with an AR-15 2. He was asked to protect a local business from looters and rioters 3. Many people were also armed that night, among rioters and non-rioters. 4. He was 17 at the time So was it legal for him to be there? Yes, state law means you can open carry. Due to the length of the gun barrel Kyle was within the law to be carrying his AR-15 that night. The argument that he "crossed state lines" or his "mom drove him t...

Ukraine (It's life Jim, but not as we know it)

The dangers of right wing conspiracy theorists Now I've written quite a bit over the danger of extreme left wing thinking. So I thought I'd balance things out with some right wing horror. Every inch as dangerous and frustratingly annoying. I give you (drum roll) The Right Wing Conspiracy Theorist! Watch them carefully, they're the ones tossing out casually cryptic words hinting that something sinister is underfoot. Words and phrases such as "The great reset" "New World Order (NWO)" And the greatest enemy hiding in plain sight the World Economic Forum (WEF) They'll constantly spurn out sinister tropes such as "join the dots" "Manipulating the narrative" And a particular favourite "ARE YOU AWAKE YET" They "know" something that you don't, they've cracked the code and followers will lap it up. Of course, left wing conspiracy theorists are also in abundance, anyone who's familiar with Carole Cadwalladr c...
