The tragedy of feminists
In 1976 little known US female Tennis player Renee Richards was outed publicly as a man by local Tv anchor Richard Carlson. It caused such a stir that it prompted the USTA, WTA and the USOC to require all athletes who wish to compete in the female category of sports to subject themselves to the Barr body test of their chromosomes to ensure that they were biologically women. (Fun fact: Richard Carlson is the father of Tucker Carlson)
In the 1976 US open, Richards applied to compete as a woman but refused to take the test so was not allowed to compete in that years open, Wimbledon or the Italian open.
In 1977 Richards sued the USTA in the New York courts alleging discrimination by gender. On August 16th 1977 Judge Alfred M. Ascione found in Richards favour. While her tennis career never quite hit the heights that many predicted, a precedent had been set and nearly a half century later sport is still struggling with this difficult legacy.
How much of an advantage do transgender women have over biological women? One doesn't need a degree in biology to see the huge advantage, you only need to check current world records to clear that one up. And there have been plenty of studies now that prove that no matter how many different cocktail of drugs you take, the advantage is still clear and irrefutable, the male body is designed to be physically stronger, so why does this problem still persist? Why, in 2022 do we have male bodied Lia Thomas currently dominating female swimming in the US?
The answer isn't simple, but in order to find the answer you should start by looking at who is pushing this agenda. Now of course you have the Trans athletes themselves, but who is backing them up. A quick look through any social media site will give you that answer in abundance. Its a new form of progressive feminism, we know this, because not only do many female feminists support trans women, many self titled male feminists do as well. You wont find any men on the right wing of the political aisle pushing for this kind of inclusion. In fact, you won't find many men on the left either, apart from, that is, the really far left, the likes of Peter Tatchell and Owen Jones.
To put it bluntly feminism (which is another part of the progressive movement) is currently in the process of eating itself alive. Which does lead us to a rather unusual conundrum. Both sides are accusing the other of vile misogyny and being part of the evil patriarchy.
If the patriarchy does exist, then its very likely that it would come down firmly on the side of biological women. The patriarchy if indeed it were a single, homogenous group would be conservative men. Now while the most hardliner conservative man is something that historically has been dragged kicking and screaming to a more progressive stance over the course of the 20th century. The evidence is in, men are overwhelmingly in support of equal rights for men & women before the law. In fact, that's what we currently have in liberal democracies like the UK and the United States. No man I know (or who have ever met in person) wants to change that.
I have tried to explain that to various women over the past few months and the only pushback I get are from (you guessed it) feminists! On both sides of this debate. If it wasn't so sad it would be amusing. So I've given up in this debate, I am a man after all and after I finish this article I will speak out no more about it and just sit back and watch the show.
But I did come across a patriarchy hating feminist who laid out in no uncertain terms how evil men were and yet again they're trying to demote women to second class citizens in this country. So I thought I would respond to her rather desperate mental gymnastics in trying to blame men for the current predicament
Thread Begins.
Why I #standwithjkr : 8 years ago a (male) ex called me 'cruel' for stating that gender was social straight-jacket; suddenly I felt too ashamed to question. I didn't want to be nasty & forgot what I had known. Then in 2015 the reality of so-called 'gender identity' began to dawn.
So, straight out the gate, a classic trope, paint yourself as the victim for being such a wonderful person. Textbook Marxism, there has to be the suffering innocent and there has to be the tyrannical oppressor.
A couple of years on (and after i'd left him) I was chair of the feminist group @chelt_fems. I organised a fundraising event. I've never really been in touch with celeb culture, but to attract people along I made a poster calling Bruce Jenner a woman.
Two friends at the event challenged me about referring to Jenner as a 'woman'. I was devastated - how could these women I respected be so cruel to what I just knew a persecuted minority? I cried a lot. Then I arranged to meet with them to discuss it and things began to change.
I don't believe a word of this. This is to instil a false narrative into the reader about an oppressed woman's journey into seeing the light of evil man by her fellow feminists
They simply told the truth & it was the first time since my ex boyfriend had silenced me that I began to remember that gender is just a set of stereotypes. I began to think about whether it was possible to be 'born in the wrong sexed body' and what the phrase really meant.
Nope, still not buying it. We now have the full setup. Amazing, fantastic, kind, caring progressive woman who was silenced by an evil ex boyfriend (a bloke who merely expressed an opinion) and was hauled back from the precipice by the heroine's of all feminist story's, feminists themselves.
Suddenly it became clear, those who identify as transgender are invested in sexism -the basis for their belief that they are 'born in the wrong body' is because they reduce women & men to sexist caricatures. How can anyone know what it feels like to be something they're not?
A classic feminist conundrum
"I have decided this is sexism, I have decided that these sexist misogynists just want to crush women. How can they know what it feels like to be a woman?"
I don't know, but it does come across as a little bit hypocritical when you claim to know exactly what trans women are up to and deny them any agency in simply believing they are born in the wrong body. After all, how can a woman possibly know how it feels to be a trans woman?
Then I began researching - I asked myself 'what's the difference between a trans man and a woman?' and then 'what's the difference between a man who cross-dresses for a fetish, and a man who calls himself a woman?' Then I started reading in earnest (h/t Prof Sheila Jefferys).
You seem fairly well educated, did you really need to read a book about the difference between a trans man and a woman? or a cross-dressing fetishist? No you didn't, you're just grandstanding
I realised that the entire 'gender identity' nonsense was essentially an industry advocating for the sexual rights of men. I just couldn't keep quiet. I told anyone who would stay still long enough to listen. Like I had of my friends before, many thought me monstrous.
Now here the already weak argument begins to unravel. The transgender community is a progressive community as I have already pointed out. The last thing progressives would ever do is campaign for the sexual rights of men.
I would also hazard a guess that all these people you told (who would sit still long enough to listen) would be women and in particular feminists which is why many thought you monstrous.
In the years since I realised what the implications of transgender ideology are for women I've written extensively and have given talks at every opportunity. I have lost a lot of friends, though along the way have made many new ones.
The saddest part of the thread. Ask any non-progressive on what the implications of transgender ideology are and they could have explained it to you within 10 minutes.
So, you've lost a lot of feminist friends and gained a lot of new feminist friends, good for you.
I suspect some of those who once thought me 'cruel' and cut me off are today starting to see what the problem with transgender ideology is. I live in hope of apology or five. We should never be made to feel ashamed for standing-up for our rights as women #IStandWithJKR
I don't know, you would have to ask your fellow feminists if they still think of you as cruel. No, don't ever be ashamed to stand up for your rights as women.
And that was the thread.
The comments were pretty standard fare, progressives attacking each other, accusing each other of bigotry and misogyny.
Reminiscent of a Greek tragedy, feminism is stumbling from disaster to disaster suffocating under the jackboot of it's own failing and it has no idea how to relieve itself from its suffering.
Now I don't like modern feminists, I can appreciate that society needed a feminist movement back in the day, yet nowadays they're not campaigning for equal rights, if everyone is equal under the law, where do you go from there? Well seeking equity would be one area, which is why feminists complain about the lack of CEO's in big business, or the gender wage gap argument. Notwithstanding the fact that men on average not only work longer hours, are more likely to work unsociable hours and most definitely make up the vast majority of people doing dangerous jobs, is it any wonder that they may earn more money during a lifetime?
But it is yet another bad faith argument. We know this because how many female sewage plant workers are there? How many of them empty our bins? Not many in comparison to males, but for equity you would think feminists would argue that more women roll their sleeves up no? OK argue that women can choose whatever they want (I certainly would agree with that) but if women choose a better work/life balance than men, its hardly men's fault if they have a fatter wallet.
There is still a progressive voice that does need to be heard however. To ensure equality we cannot be completely blind to the chance that historical oppressions may still spill over into our modern, liberal society. The WASPI campaign to name just one. It certainly at least needs looking at. Another one would be the fact that childbirth in the UK seems to be much more dangerous for a black woman. I don't know the reason why black women have such a higher fatality rate, but it does need looking at. Although, as a caveat, I am pretty sure the answers to both problems don't lie in ageism, sexism or racism. Life is just far more complicated than this.
In New York in 2014 Christopher "Kryzie" King was sentenced to 22 years to life for the abuse and murder of 4 year old Myls Dobson. the sickening details of which I wont go into here.
Being able to self ID as a woman King was able to be successfully transferred to a female prison.
How did we get here? How on earth could this possibly allowed to happen you might ask? One twitter user opined that it might happen in the UK as well because we had a Tory government.
Its all just so very tragic.
In 2022, the governor of New York Kathy Hochul tacked a policy directive onto a budget plan which allowed prisoners the right to not only choose their own gender, but also choose where they would serve out their sentence. Hochul is a democrat. If anything were to happen like that in the UK, then it would more than likely (although not exclusively) be introduced under a Labour government. Of course, the UK already has its own cases of biological males in female prisons sexually assaulting inmates.
There is a long road ahead before we can introduce legislation to roll back some of this progressive madness.
Anyway, back to things that are more sporting.
In 2003 the IOC drew up new guidelines for gender reassigned men including the need to have undergone gender reassignment surgery, show legal recognition of gender and to have undergone hormone therapy for a period of 2 years.
In 2004 transgender athletes who fitted the above criteria were eligible to compete in the Olympics.
Now when this happened I knew this would only end in tears. Progressivism is like that, it chips away bit by bit. By 2015 these already unfair guidelines were relaxed even further and slowly but ever so surely we evolved into the state of affairs we have today
I knew it was wrong back in 2003, I was stunned when they amended it in 2015 and now, in 2022 I can only laugh in disbelief.
But now I have decided that as a straight, white male, I have no dog in this fight. I don't like being attacked for the colour of my skin, the nation I was born in and nor my sex. I am not going to defend someone that attacks me and blames me (yet again) for a problem not of my doing.
Good luck feminists. And for all the normal women out there who are caught up in this sickening lunacy, none of which is your own doing, I am so sorry for you, you deserve none of this.
