Owen Jones, wrong again

Its all very tiring. Every time Owen Jones is invited to write an op-ed he then proceeds to claim he knows "exactly" what huge swathes of people are thinking, its a hallmark of his style, there's no real substance here, just far left hyperbole, mixed with a smidgeon of outright lies, this is then all stirred up to create what you could called a  classic "Guardian op-ed"

Pretty much all Guardian op-eds are far left leaning, and in OJ they have just the person to drag them even further to the left, it appeals to their readership that's for sure.

Its also the reason why circulation of The Guardian is always among the lowest of all daily newspapers, because barely anyone wants to read it.

So here it is in all its shoddy detail. So lets concentrate on OJ's hit points and see what we can come up with.

Ugly divisive rhetoric has been part of British politics for years now, quite why Jones appears to think its just the right wing I'm not too sure.

I really don't think the average Tory member would view Genghis Khan as milquetoast, I mean, the guy is estimated to have killed 40 million people. I'm pretty sure Jones is attempting humour here, its rather hard to say. The dour faced Jones isn't really one to use humour

Lie: Braverman never said migration was an existential threat, she specifically said "illegal migration"

Lie: The "hurricane" she mentioned is a perfectly feasible concern, supposing 100 million people decide to come and live in Britain, where we going to put them all Owen? How will we provide all the healthcare needed? How will our Victorian infrastructure cope.

Grooming gangs:

Lie (by omission) The report that is cited so often by far left Guardian readers forgets many pertinent details.

1. The UK is 82% white, because this is so high, we use other forms of measuring crime, otherwise white people will clearly be seen as committing most crime, so we use per capita

Per capita translates as "by the head" 

Example

82% of white people are committing 60% of all violent crime

18% of non-whites are committing 40%

So per capita (by the head) non-white people are committing way more crime than they should (it should be 18%)

This is an example! This is not me using facts, I have made up these crime statistics in order to easily explain per capita.

So, Jones on grooming gangs where he insists most grooming gang members are white.

Well, they are (just) However using per capita, grooming gangs are vastly over-represented by British Pakistani men, even the report clearly states this with Asian men coming in just behind white men as members of grooming gangs.

The Home Office report is also inconclusive because of the lack of data being given by police forces to the Home Office. Now why did they do this? I'm not one for conspiracy theories, so I wont hazard a guess in this blog, but I'm pretty sure I know why.

Jones appears to have memory holed what happened to Israel on October 7th, I don't condone bombing civilian areas under any circumstances but there is a reason Israel is retaliating.

When thousands of people are mobbed up and chanting "from the river to the sea" Its safe to call it a hate march. As Jones would surely know, "from the river to the sea" is a call for genocide of all Israeli's in Israel. Lets not also forget the people wearing images of Hamas paratroopers who had parachuted into Israel to slaughter innocent civilians, or the global campaign of tearing down posters of missing Israeli children.

I could go on, but I wont.

A far right mob that stormed The Cenotaph so that they could stand in complete silence for 2 minutes to honour the fallen I think he means. Authorities have no right to block public access to The Cenotaph unless they feel that it is under threat of vandalism. Clearly these men would never dare to desecrate their fallen heroes (and they never)

We only have Owens word to go on in saying who said what, the best I could find is footy fans chanting "who the fuck is Allah"

Clearly Jones has never been to a football match before...

Again he calls them peace protestors, having just recently watched video of a "peace protestor" claiming that Hitler had the right idea, its clear Jones has a very warped idea of what a peace protestor actually is.

"Poison that courses through the veins of the conservative party"

He's really cranking up the rhetoric now.

Then we move on to toxic rhetoric regarding mass immigration.

I'm wondering if Owen Jones has ever actually been to a council estate before in his life. Immigration without integration is a recipe for disaster and almost every day now we see evidence of this with our own eyes.

Then we segue into an attack on recent Tory PM's "Boris Johnson letterboxes, blah blah blah" 

Islamophobia enters the article (quelle surprise)

Islamophobia suggests an irrational fear of the religion of Islam. I have never met anyone with an irrational fear of Islam. Heard a few who have expressed a very real and rational fear of Islam, but not an irrational one.

Jones is reaching yet again.

He finished his article by coining a new term "Bravermanism" apparently its now the core of modern Toryism, he tries to explain that "Bravermanism" is dog whistle politics.

He's wrong yet again. Dog whistle politics is the political use of rhetoric to say one thing yet "reading between the lines" you actually mean something else.

For all her faults, Braverman is the very opposite of dog whistle politics, she said exactly what she meant and made sure everyone else knew it too!
