Hope Not Hate and the extreme far left agenda.
Quite a thought provoking statement, after all it was a well respected French philosopher of the enlightenment who wrote it.
Except it isn't a Voltaire quote at all, it was actually lifted from a 1993 essay written by Neo-Nazi Kevin Strom. Now, try reading it again and the whole meaning feels very different. Language is a very powerful thing, its created civilisations our ancient African ancestors would never be able to comprehend.
So when we look at language, its worth remembering where its come from, who is using it and what agenda do they have? But most importantly, are they providing any balance? Every critical thinker should have his or her own personal devils advocate looking over their shoulder. So with that in mind, I stumbled across an article from the far left extremist group hope not hate. Its about as one sided an argument you could possibly get, so I thought I would provide some much needed balance.
Now you could easily be forgiven for thinking that organisations like Hope Not Hate are just an insignificant far left UK lobby group, but the sad fact is they aren't. Not only do they have an influence within the halls of Whitehall, they also have influence with the BBC, not a huge amount perhaps, but enough to raise more than an eyebrow of concern. Think about it, a far left lobby group that's bordering on being communist not only has access to levers of power of an elected government they also have influence in the UK's state run media (which is actually against its charter)
So when you think of the BBC and wonder why it continually appears to be a left wing channel, far left lobby groups like Hope Not Hate are the reason why. Anyway, without further ado, lets look at the article.
The far right believe that the world can be structured into strict hierarchies and categories. This worldview seeps through every segment of their belief system and is expressed in different ways: through concepts such as nationalism, a desire for strong leaders and perhaps most clearly in racism. It is also present in the far right’s view on gender, and recently this has come to be expressed through attacks on the rights of transgender people.
Interesting start. The far right believe in many things as do the far left. The author seems to have projected an awful lot onto the far right, yet neglects to offer any proof. In fact, if you were to replace the word "right" with the word "left" it would make almost as much sense when you take intersectionality into consideration. But who exactly are these people of the far right? Well, we're about to find out.
In recent years transgender people have become an important target of far-right hate, both here in Britain and internationally. Anti-trans views include fear, dislike or mistrust of people who are, or who are perceived to be, transgender or non-binary, as well as denial of their identity, abuse and vilification of trans people.
Such beliefs now comprise a large part of far-right propaganda, as well as social media content and, worryingly, regular and direct calls for violence. Hate against trans people has united the broader far right in a way few other issues have done. From more mainstream figures and parties that usually avoid explicit references to race, to explicitly fascist and racist groups, transphobia has become a central focus.
Anti-trans views span the entire far right. The fascist group Patriotic Alternative has published multiple blogs on transgender people over the last year. It also reviewed the anti-trans, antisemitic book The Transgender Industrial Complex and hosted the book’s authors in one if its “book club” livestreams. Mark Collett, the organisation’s leader, has also regularly broadcast transphobic messages on Telegram.
Well, we're not going to find out just yet it seems. Surely there must be reams of concrete evidence to back up all these claims regarding hate towards trans people.
Meanwhile, the anti-Muslim activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson), who has a following of 155,000 on Telegram, has also made anti-trans politics a central part of his agenda in recent years. In December 2021 alone he posted 14 transphobic posts and additional anti-LGBT+ posts, frequently using the slur “tranny”. In one post he wrote: “It’s not natural, biological men can’t have babies, they are not supposed to have babies.”
Well, first of all, Tommy Robinson is anti-Islam not anti-Muslim, but lets move on. Finally the author offers up some evidence of all this hate. and that hate comes from the use of the word "tranny" and "its not natural, biological men cant have babies"
Okay, not sure on the context of the quote but stating that biological men cant have babies can hardly be described as hate speech. Neither is using the word tranny, in fact, I wasn't even aware that it was a slur before reading this article. So again, we have an awful lot of projecting, yet the evidence given here is weak at best, flat out lying would be a better description however. This paragraph alone should set some alarm bells ringing. It suggests that even saying that biological men cant have babies and they are not supposed to have babies (a view shared by pretty much anyone who ever picked up a textbook on biology) is now far right. Put a pin in that thought for now though.
It should be no surprise that the far right almost universally opposes transgender rights. Far-right ideologies have at their core strongly patriarchal gender norms, no matter the gender of the ideologue. Views on gender reflect the far right’s view of the world as one of strict and unchangeable categories, framed in many cases as dictated by “nature” (a theme referenced by Yaxley-Lennon’s quote).
Okay, what we would need here is what transgender rights this far right group of people are opposing? I read the whole article, it doesn't say, which is where the whole article really begins to fall apart and becomes a nothing burger of far left propaganda.
Gender, in the view of the far right, is intrinsically linked to biological traits and should determine one’s place in a social hierarchy. Ultimately the traditional gender roles and the subjugation of women is justified in terms of ensuring the reproduction of the nation. Emancipatory struggles, whether that is migrant rights, feminism or the movement for transgender equality, challenge these boundaries and are therefore clashing with this core tenet of far-right ideologies.
I think its safe to say that gender and biological sex being intrinsically linked is a view shared by pretty much anyone who isn't a far left extremist. It's also interesting that the author once again mentions social hierarchy. Since the birth of intersectionality the far left are very keen on creating their very own version of social hierarchy, it's hypocrisy overload. Here the author is putting the finishing touches to framing his argument. Feminists should be on the Trans side, so should all women in fact. There is a problem however. And that's the framing of what is and isn't far right, so far we have "biological men cant have babies".
The American far-right “citizen journalist” Andy Ngo, who frequently posts anti-trans content on his social media, attended a conference organised by British group LGB Alliance in October as a member of the press. LGB Alliance is an anti-trans campaign group formed in October 2018
Andy Ngo is a conservative journalist and author who has been relentless is his coverage of the far left extreme hate group Antifa for which he has been hospitalised and received numerous death threats, the fact that the author chose to label him a citizen journalist in quotes should tell you all you need to know.
The LGB alliance is a group formed to protect their right to be attracted on the basis of biological sex and not gender. Similarly the way heterosexual people are attracted only to people of the opposite biological sex. To suggest it is anti-trans is a hell of a reach.
However, the far right’s attention to the topic in the media should not be seen as purely tactical. Specific themes in the mainstream media’s portrayal of trans issues have struck a chord with far-right views on gender. A common theme in media coverage is the portrayal of trans people being a threat – primarily towards children and, especially in the case of trans women, as a threat particularly to cis women. There have been numerous media-led debates and columns discussing the topic of trans women’s access to women-only spaces such as bathrooms and changing rooms, often with a critical party arguing that it would give (what they define as) “men” a possibility to commit sexual violence.
Well, lets be honest. Its not just far right chord. Its struck an anything that isn't extreme far left chord. Although, by now, we already know that the author is of the opinion that anything that isn't extreme far left is far right. This is also where the author really fails, there are already numerous recorded cases of men who are using the cover of the trans identity in order to access women's safe spaces, any journalist with even the slightest bit of integrity would admit to this, but not this author.
These narratives fit with existing far-right discourses and feed into common anxieties. There is an enduring figure in far-right discourse of a hypersexualised black or Muslim rapist. This trope serves the far right by posing white men as protectors of (white) women. This in turn strengthens the status of white men and entrenches traditional, patriarchal gender roles. There is a direct link between this existing idea of a sexual threat and how the far right speaks of trans people today.
Common anxieties backed up with facts unfortunately. Here the author indulges in a bit of subterfuge and slips in a bit of racism into the discourse. Not only is his idea of the far right solely the domain of white people he further narrows it down to white men. Now, my devils advocate tells me (and I know this because unlike the author I don't live in an echo chamber) that there is an element on the far right that would hold the opinion the author levels at them. But to label everyone that isn't extreme far left as far right, racist white men is stunningly ignorant.
An example of such a convergence of twisted views is shown by Hearts of Oak, an alliance of far-right and libertarian activists, including Tommy Robinson. The organisation heavily promotes Robinson’s project “The Rape of Britain”. While he has claimed to expose the sexual exploitation of children by predominantly Muslim men, he has also made multiple videos targeting trans people. In one speech titled “THE TRANS TIME BOMB!!!”, he argued that gender-neutral children’s books and LGBT+ education in school causes mental health issues, calling it child abuse and comparing it directly to sexual grooming.
Obviously the author hasn't watched "The Rape of Britain" If he had, he would know that Robinson has also implicated straight white men as guilty accomplices which debunks the authors claims. I always find that if I'm to comment on something, I would at least watch it first. Now I don't rate Tommy Robinson as a journalist, but at least he is often able to back up his claims with facts and witness's. I would also love to know why the author thinks it important to educate children in LGBT+ ideology, it is after all an opinion with very critical opposition, lets just allow children to be children because outside of the far left echo chamber you will find very little support for something that bears all the hallmarks of a cult.
The far right’s rhetoric around trans people is similar to that of many other groups that it targets. It uses a similarly contradictory language to justify its hate. Transgender people are simultaneously ridiculous and threatening, weak and powerful, depending on context.
This is what first had me thinking about Stroms quote from his 1993 essay
"To learn who rules over you simply find out who you are not allowed to criticise"
What you could argue is a very small, niche minority can also wield an enormous amount of power. In todays very liberal society, the fear of causing offense to marginalised groups has led to some very real and very terrifying damage, take for instance the Rotherham grooming gang scandal. The fear of being labelled a racist or indulging in "Islamophobia" (a completely made up word) has destroyed thousands of lives.
Depicting trans people as powerful and dangerous serves to legitimise hate and obscures the fact that transgender people face a remarkable amount of persecution. Research by LGBT+ hate crime monitoring organisation Galop found that in 2020 as many as four out of five trans people had experienced a hate crime in the previous 12 months, and that one in four had experienced a transphobic physical assault or the threat of physical assault.
Citation very much needed. Also, what is a hate crime? So far the author has suggested that a hate crime is committed by anyone who even mentions the trans issue without leaping to its defence is guilty of a hate crime (and is also far right)
Galop, in much the same way Tell Mama operate is full of useful information, advice on what a hate crime is, how to report it, what to look out for etc. But at the same time its also deliberately vague. Plenty of info on what the crime is, yet no "actual" examples. So its left to the individual to decide for themselves, what is commonly known these days as "lived experience"
Ironically, even asking someone for an example of a hate crime is a hate crime in itself. Very deceptive, and a very clever way to shut down conversation.
Shon Faye notes in her recent book The Transgender Issue that the rhetoric about trans people has changed in recent years. She writes:
“We were no longer portrayed as the ridiculous but unthreatening provincial mechanic who was having a ’sex swap’; now, we were depicted as the proponents of a powerful new ‘ideology’ that was capturing institutions and dominating public life.”
Shon Faye who regularly writes for far left newspapers like the Guardian and has appeared on extreme far left organisation Novara media does indeed note this, but she also skirts around the issue of "why" again, every critical thinker should have their own devils advocate, to lack that you will only ever be able to present a bad faith argument.
“Cultural Marxism” is a theory alleging that (usually) Jewish people promote progressive ideologies through their supposed influence in cultural and political institutions, and are working to smuggle communism into Western culture, to brainwash populations and undermine the West. LGBTQ+ rights and feminism are some of the most common issues attributed to cultural marxism. Promotion of these causes, many segments of the far right believe, will lead to the breakdown of order, a weakening and the corruption of society, through the weakening of white men and lower birth rates. In its fascist interpretation, LGBTQ+ people, as well as other minority groups, are seen as impurities that need to be removed for the good of the nation.
Errr no, this is a very strange description of "Cultural Marxism" Also note that the author has now slipped in some anti-Semitism, a ploy often adopted by extremists, while there is evidence that extremists on the far right also attach Jews to Cultural Marxism, that's not what it actually is. For a decent breakdown
This is what Cultural Marxism actually is
Again, the author is trying to convince the reader that what they are seeing before their own eyes in the media is not what is actually happening, its all very Orwellian and just does not add up.
2+2= 5
Now the rest of the article points to some very far right extremist comments, I won't mention that as part of this post. Just read the article yourself. I genuinely think these comments are true, the far right (that is, the real far right) hold some very evil views. I will however finish with some extreme far left evil just to give some balance. I am not a woman, but I was given birth by one, I have loved many and cherish the ones in my life. So, if you can, imagine yourself a young woman (or girl) and there is a movement that not only wants to play sports specifically for females but also wants access to their changing rooms, their toilets, their prisons their shelters.

2021 FILIA Womens conference This is in my Home City, it was also attended by teachers and students of Portsmouth University.
Of course, it's not just women and girls who have to put up with this. Men are also victims of this cultish phenomena.
Now, the author has laid out his arguments. They have delivered plenty of warning about the dangers of the far right hijacking the trans issue for its own nefarious needs. But!
Apart from their ideology being full of holes, in particular the way they frame what "hate speech" actually is, They have no actual data to back up any of their claims. So apart from highlighting there is a nasty element on the extreme fringe of the far right the author has proven nothing other than a lack of understanding of what Cultural Marxism is and most importantly of all, they have completely failed to highlight the huge problems the far left are posing.
Read the links I posted, then read them again. Now would you want a sensible reasonable discussion about sharing your safe spaces if you were a biological woman? As a man would you want your mums, sisters, daughters thrown under the bus in order to appease this cult?
No, neither would I.
