Can women beat men in sports?

In a world where it is universally recognised that men have a biological advantage in sport, some people will hold onto any raft that remotely supports their belief that women are the exact physical equal of men

I have written about this on more than one occasion. here, here and also here

Some feminists actually argue that women are just as good at sports as men and they simply refuse to believe what is right in front of their faces. This latest iteration of "Girl Power" the feminist argues that women very often win ultra marathoning events. I did look into this previously but it was not something I researched in any particular depth other than unearth general time comparisons and who actually does win most of these events (men)

In terms of stamina, the gap between men and women does narrow, but it still does not disappear. We also need to take into account the nature of long distance running. In long distance running it is not simply a case of running as fast as you can, but running as smart as you can. Even middle distance running is a game of tactics, If I was given a quid every time I witnessed a middle distance runner go out too fast/too hard only to be reeled in by the chasing pack, then I would have a very large amount of quids.

Mo Farah's early career was beset by howling tactical misjudgements where he missed out on numerous titles. Yet, he learned how to run both smarter and using brilliant tactical awareness he finished his track career as a double, double Olympic champion in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres

Sport isn't always about using every ounce of your power. For example Serena Williams regularly serves at a faster speed than Novak Djokovic. Is this because she is stronger? is it because she is more powerful? No, its because Novak sacrifices a lot of his power to add better accuracy and more spin to his serve. Men learned that in Tennis, serving bombs as fast as you can is not always the best policy, because if it goes straight at your opponent at 140mph, there's a high chance its going to come back just as fast and more than likely put you at the disadvantage on your own serve, something Williams learnt isn't as necessary when serving to a woman.

I really dislike writing these kinds of posts. Women are fantastic athletes. Yet in order to protect their sports I have to highlight the physical advantages men have over women.

The latest feminist "women are just as good as men" hyperbole has just dropped via this tweet from Twitter user Sandy

Wow! Its totally true! Women are better at running than men, and not just by a little bit either.

OK, apart from the obvious question of why are women not dominating all sports all the time if they clearly are this superior, lets also look at the facts. Because I prefer facts, especially when they challenge my own preconceived ideas that men have a biological advantage when it comes to sports.

Camille Herron is a phenomenal athlete, her running feats are astonishing, the titles she has won and the records she holds are testament to her ability. So how good is she compared to men?

In her prime, her best marathon run was 2:37:14

The men's marathon record is 2:01:09

OK, so that's quite a significant time disparity, so why is she smashing men's records to smithereens?

Long distance running is all about pacing yourself and running tactically. Running your absolute fastest (much like middle distance running) is normally doomed to failure. So I checked out the course results

See here

The first thing I noticed was that there were a few times where the women's time was faster than the men's, does this mean that these women are just naturally faster athletes? Or was the race tactically different, was the weather different, and very often, was the course itself different? The fact that this trail running event has only been going for 6 years is also pretty telling. But not as telling as even by Herrons own admission most runners use this race as a prep event for more important races.

And what of the quality of the men who compete in these events.

Herron is an athlete who when in her prime was on the cusp of Olympic elite level, 3 times she qualified for the Olympic trials, The men not so much, while very good, to suggest they were anywhere near elite level is ridiculous.

The second thing I noticed was how wildly different marathon running times can be, especially over a huge distance like 100 miles, people take rest breaks for a quick 40 winks for example, and nobody has dominated the sport in any way, shape or form. I can't see this becoming a tremendous spectator sport anytime soon. There are no elite athletes involved in the sport. A racer like Herron is always going to perform well against these lesser lights.

So what are we left with? You be the judge, but there is nothing here that tells me that a woman can easily compete against men at elite level.

So no Sandy, TERF's have never claimed that a woman can never beat a man. In fact, I have never heard anyone claim this ever. But! If you take the very best woman, and force her to compete against the very best man, then I'm afraid biology will win every single time.

But why is it important to debunk this nonsense Because women and girls are suffering once more under the jackboot of feminists and trans women.

Its time we all took a stand.
